3rd National Conference (HIV AIDS):



Orientation for UNESCO Ministry of Health and Population, HIV/AIDS and STD Control Board organized 3rd National AIDS Conference supported by Global Fund, UNAIDS and USAID from 4-7 July 2008 in Kathmandu . Participants from different districts and different organizations participated at the Conference. Youth leaders from different youth organization participated at the conference as speakers and trainers. This Conference was highly beneficial to the youth in particular for being aware of the disaster that can fall on them from HIV/AIDS. Mr. Sanjay Bir Thapa, President of United Nations Youth and Student Association Nepal shed light on different aspects of the HIV/AIDS and call HIV/AIDS as a most dangerous epidemics.

 

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Thapa said 'we the youth of the country should unite out strength and energy in combating the forces of HIV/AIDS which has been claim life of million of people across the globe. We should vigorously mobilize our youth and start a national movement against HIV/AIDS through enhancing awareness about the disastrous consequences which can arise out of epidemic of HIV/AIDS." He further said that "the Governments of all the countries, United Nations and NGOs should come forward to eradicate HIV/AIDS through the youth mobilization and through promoting education against HIV/AIDS. The youth should be given opportunity to take part in the decision making process relating young people". Some experts, Doctors and HIV/AIDS affected people also expressed their opinion on different strategies to fight HIV/AIDS and build a society free of HIV/AIDS".
