Role of Eliminating Racial Discrimination: (19/01/2007,

United
Nations Youth and Student Association Nepal organized a talk program
on “The Role Youth in Eliminating Racial Discrimination”.
The chief guest on the occasion was Mr. Ghula M. Lisaczi the deputy
representative of UNDP. Speakers on the occasion was Dr. Bishnu
Hari Nepal, Shanta Shrestha-Member of Parliament, Asso.Prof. Dambar
Bir Thapa, President of United Nations Association of Nepal, Ms.
Chirik Shova Tamrakar, former Campus Chief of Padma Kanya Campus,
Mr. Sanjay Bir Thapa, President of United Nations Youth and Student
Association Nepal and they highlighted the role that youth have
been playing in eliminating social injustice and racial discrimination.
They
also suggested that Government of Nepal should provide opportunities
for youth to remove social injustice, racial discrimination and
violent conflict. Speakers on the occasion said that youth empowerment
is the foundation of social development so that all the discrimination
and injustice in society could be eliminated. They laid stress that
the Government, INGOs and NGOs should organized programs to promote
the empowerment of youth.

On the occasion,
executive members of UNYSAN also spoke on the importance of the
role that youth are playing to build a society free from caste,
creed, discrimination poverty, hunger and illiteracy. The members
of UNYSAN urged to strengthen youth empowerment program in rural
areas, in particular, so that all the evils of society could be
removed. The development of a Nation is incomplete until the total
removal of these social evils. For this purpose, youth mobilization
is the main missile to tackle these age-old problems.

UNYSAN
informed the participants of the program about holding a training
program to empower youth in near future. During the training workshop,
some youth leaders and UNESCO experts will provide training to the
youth on the role of youth in the promotion of the social justice,
human rights, peace and cultural diversity. Student and youth from
different parts of Nepal will be invited to participate the training
program. The training program will be organized in April 2007.
United
Nations Youth and Student Association Nepal will hold a talk program
on the “Need of Teaching in mother Language” on occasion
of International mother language day on 21st February 2007. The
